CANDIDATE STATEMENT
We need Trustees who put students first, are fiscally responsible and provide common sense leadership.
Education is in crisis. The recession and crippling reductions in state funding required us to cut $47 million from the budget over the last two years. In order to survive, we had to make incredibly difficult decisions. But like a business or family budget, we cannot spend more that we have.
In order to survive, and indeed thrive, we must change how we deliver our operational and educational services. We must teach students how they learn, not how we learned.
My priorities are student achievement and protecting the interests of taxpayers.
I will use my B.A. in Business Administration and 30 years of financial and problem solving experience to: reduce class sizes; reduce expenses; generate new revenue; reallocate resources for student achievement; find more efficient and cost effective ways of delivering operational services; better collaborate with the business community to ensure that students have the skills employers need; and collaborate with classroom teachers to deliver more effective education to our students.
I would appreciate your vote.
