ELECTION

November 6, 2012 Illinois General Election

CANDIDATE STATEMENT

I am running for Commissioner of the Cook County Board of Review because, I believe the Cook County Board of Review has become a public relations base for the incumbent and his Democratic Colleagues.

I have decided to seek the office as Patlak has failed to live up to the promises he made during his campaign. Patlak's time in office has been much more Democratic than Republican—he is constantly yielding to the Democratic agenda and forgetting about taxpayer concerns. Rather than challenging the culture of corruption as Patlak proclaimed he would, he has openly embraced it by spending much of his time actively soliciting campaign contributions rather than advocating in the interest of taxpayers. I want to change the office and to be an advocate for the home owners and redirect the office to do what it was intended to do; which is to encourage and facilitate homeowners to challenge their property taxes and insure that the fair, uniformed and proper tax amount is assessed on their homes.

I will implement an entirely new mindset at the Board of Review level, which includes a whole new program to insure that homeowner property tax assessments are uniform and fair.
I am fed up with excessive unfair property taxes and I know the homeowners in Cook County are fed-up with their taxes, too. My campaign will be focused on lowering our property taxes, through Greater efficiencies and Lobbying Cook County and the Illinois General Assembly to address and fix the problem. I will be the peoples Commissioner.

Can it be done? I know it can, Commissioners do not have the authority to change the system themselves, but they have the ability to lobby the Illinois General Assembly, and if we do that, we can reduce property taxes. Unfortunately, Dan Patlak has chosen to remain silent in the fight for homeowners.

By electing me as Commissioner of the Cook County Board of Review, you can expect:
1.An ongoing pursuit of greater efficiency brought to the Board of Review.
2.An adopted Code of Ethics for all Board of Review employees.
3.Integration of modern technology making it easier throughout the entire appeals process for homeowners to file property tax appeals.
4.The development of innovative methods of taxation, the objective being the creation of jobs and growth.
