CANDIDATE STATEMENT
Open space is a hallmark of suburban living. Forest Preserves are the most important components of our open space, providing better air and water quality, reducing stormwater runoff, reducing noise and visual pollution and providing respite from a busy world.
For over 19 years I have served you as a DuPage County Forest Preserve Commissioner, representing you in preserving, protecting, restoring and restocking land for your recreation and education. I've been at the forefront of preserving over 1,500 added acres of open space located in District 6 and worked for the construction of miles of trails, a fishing lake, and a modern campground we we can all enjoy some of the quiet beauty. As a volunteer prairie steward I have engaged in nursing our natural lands back to health. As trustee of your tax money I've helped the district retain its coveted Triple A Bond rating, and pass budgets that are on time and balanced. We plan for the financial future five years in advance.
I ask to serve you again. People of ability should devote a portion of their lives to public service. Elective office can be a high calling. The commission faces many challenges. I am prepared for these challenges and am dedicated to service. With careful management of your money, requiring more efficiency in operations and energy use, relying on our dedicated staff and volunteers, and listening to you, the best days of your forest preserves are yet to come.
