CANDIDATE STATEMENT
I want to pay teachers instead of adminstrators. I offer a fresh perspective, as a parent and a businessperson, an innovative and critical thinker, and a consensus builder in my profession -- which brings technology to corporations and government organizaitons to improve not just efficiency, but also service and satisfaction.
Alameda Unified School District (AUSD) faces a financial crisis that threatens to gut our schools of everything but a high-student-to-teacher-ratio barebones curriculum in fewer and fewer consolidated schools. Charter schools are more cost-effective, have less red-tape, support neighborhood schools when sustainable, and provide diversity, choice and competition. It allows parents to "vote" with their enrollment, rather than the Board making dictorial decisions about closing schools.
I offer change, new thinking for new challenges, and giving the community choices are my planks. Thoroughly researching and offering to the community a choice to transition to charter schools is my central proposal to achieve what the voters of Alameda deserve:
“More Educational Bang for the Buck”.
Thanks for your consideration.
