Greg Brownfield
CANDIDATE FOR THE OFFICE OF
State Senator, 23rd State Senate District
CANDIDATE PARTY
Democratic
ELECTION
November 6, 2012 Illinois General Election
CANDIDATE STATEMENT
"I believe that our government has lost its way; that public service on behalf of the common good has been pushed aside by partisan politics and selfish interests.
I believe that we need to reclaim our state government and reorient it toward the common needs of all of our citizens for good jobs, good education, and housing security.
I believe that we must follow Abraham Lincoln's vision where government is truly 'of the people, by the people, and for the people.'
In order to accomplish this, our elected leaders must again see themselves as public servants, on loan to elective office, willing to build partnerships with citizens that give everyone an equal opportunity to work toward a better life.
We must encourage every citizen to help with this effort, so that our diversity, and our human capacity to solve our own problems, may triumph over a self-serving political system that no longer serves the common good.
I am running to serve you, the citizens of my district and the people of Illinois."
